

____ 1. Find at least 3 photo references and collage them into your sketchbooks.
____2. Draw 5 thumbnail sketches in your sketchbooks. Make sure each one is different.
____3. Take your favorite drawing and make a 6x6 inch box in your sketchbook and draw it big and detailed. Shade in sections you will carve out with clay.
____4. Cut out your 6x6 inch box and put it aside.
____5. Make a 6x6 inch slab out of clay. Make sure the clay is even!!
____6. Put your 6x6 inch drawing on top of your clay and trace it with a sharp pen or pencil.
____7. Now take the drawing off your clay and begin adding details with clay. Use carving tools for details.
____8. Make sure at least have of your clay slab have sections carved away and the other had has clay added on to create depth in your tile.
____9. Use the element of art called “line” to create texture through out your tile.
____10. When you are done set your tile back in your bag without the wet paper towel for a day.
____11. Take your tile out of your bad and set it on the metal rack in the back of the room.
MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON THE BACK OF YOUR TILE!!!
