Bradford Central School District was centralized on May 21, 1928 and annexed Starr District (Monterey) in 1952. The District covers approximately 58 square miles within the townships of Bradford, Bath, Orange, Tyrone, Wayne, and Urbana and the counties of Schuyler and Steuben. Villages within the District are Bradford, South Bradford, and Monterey. The District is rural and a majority of the residents are blue collar workers employed in factories located in neighboring towns outside the District. Major employers in the area include Corning Incorporated, North American Phillips, and Dresser-Rand.
The school building itself is a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade facility which serves approximately 320 students and staffs 68 employees. The school is the "hub" of the community, providing a meeting place beyond the school day for community recreation and various other activities.
