DIPLOMA TYPES & REQUIREMENTS
There are a few different types of diplomas students can receive upon their completion of high school:
Regents Diploma
Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation via Language Option or Fine Arts Option
Local Diploma for Students with a Disability
SPECIAL ENDORSEMENTS:
Honors: A student must earn an average of at least 90 on his/her Regents Exams applicable to either a Regents Diploma or a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation. The locally developed Checkpoint B LOTE exam is not included in this calculation.
Mastery in Math and/or Science: A student meets all of the requirements for a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation AND earns a score of 85 or better on three (3) math Regents Exams and/or three (3) science Regents Exams.
Technical Endorsement: A student meets the requirements for either a Local Diploma, a Regents Diploma, or a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation AND successfully completes a department approved CTE (Career and Technical Education) program including the three (3) part technical assessment.
To receive a Regents Diploma, students must have completed a minimum of 22 credits at the end of their senior year and have passed all of their Regents Exams. Students are expected to attempt each exam until they receive a passing grade (65). If a student has utilized all of his/her opportunities to receive a passing grade and has not succeeded, appeals can be made by the school counselor. Students who have taken a Regents Exam at least two (2) times and have gotten a score of 60-64 may have that exam appealed. Only one (1) appeal can be made for the student to still receive a Regents Diploma. If a student needs two (2) exams appealed, he/she will receive a Local Diploma.
