The Bradford Central School District Board of Education acted upon a resolution related to its name and imagery at the Board of Education meeting on June 20, 2023. This was in response to NYSED’s updated requirements about names, images, logos, and mascots. In short, the BOE resolution commits the district to addressing its name and image. The District’s nickname will remain the Braves until a new name is recommended to and approved by the BOE. A community stakeholder group will be created to assist with this endeavor. The deadline for transitioning away from existing Native American imagery is June 1, 2025. If you would like to learn more about this topic and/or be considered for further involvement, there will be an informational session held in the school cafeteria on Monday, July 31st at 6:00pm.

Dear BCS Parents and Guardians, Please be advised that we are monitoring the air quality in our area frequently and are in close communication with our local department of health and school medical director. We have once again directed that no students will be allowed to go outside during the school day and for all windows and doors to remain closed. We do have purifiers in all of our classrooms and they have been turned on to help improve the quality of air. We expect conditions to remain poor throughout the day, but hopefully should start to see an improvement of conditions by tomorrow. I would strongly encourage you to keep your children inside this evening and until effects of the Canadian wildfires subside. Thank you.

Bradford Central School District is proud to announce this year's Class of 2023 Salutatorian, Chelsey Williams. Chelsey is a pillar in the BCS School Community. She has played on the Varsity Volleyball and Softball team for 3 years, a member of Student Council for 4 years, and participated on the Academic All Stars team for one year. Chelsey’s positive attitude and motivation to succeed has been proven throughout the years as she has earned High Honor Roll every marking period for all four years of high school. In 2021, Chelsey received the Principal’s Leadership Award in addition to being inducted into the National Honor Society. Over the years she has also earned the Outstanding Student Award in 2022 in two subjects, Achievement Award in 2020 and 2021, as well as the Highest 2 Year Average in Math in 2021. This past year, Chelsey was accepted into and attended the New Visions Health Careers Exploration program at GST BOCES where she was also inducted into the National Technical Honor Society this spring. Chelsey’s favorite high school class is Math, but specifically Algebra 2. Her favorite high school memories include playing on the volleyball team and the senior trip this year to Myrtle Beach, SC. In her free time, Chelsey enjoys reading, baking, painting, and listening to music. She will be attending Alfred State College this fall as an accepted student into the Radiologic Technology Program. When asked the best advice she could give to younger classes, she said “Never give up! Even when you feel like you can’t do it, or you’re not smart enough, push through and give it your all. You are capable of doing anything you put your mind to! On behalf of BCS we’d like to wish Chelsey the best of luck in her future endeavors! CONGRATULATIONS!

Bradford Central School District is proud to announce this year's Class of 2023 Valedictorian, Michele Rosno. Michele is very involved at Bradford Central School, being a member of the ski club for 3 years, yearbook club for 2 years, theatre for one year, and an honorary member of the National Honor Society since 2021. She has also acted as the Class of 2023 Treasurer for the past 4 years, along with being Treasurer for Ski Club, Yearbook, Prom Committee, and the National Honor Society. Michele has excelled in academics, receiving High Honor Roll every year along with other honorable mentions in academics, including earning the Outstanding Student Award in one or more subject areas for four consecutive years and the Highest 2 Year Average in Social Studies, Science, and English in 2021. Michele also had the honor to be inducted into the National Honor Society in Spring of 2021 in addition to receiving the Principal’s Leadership Award at the end of that same year. The Principal’s Leadership Award is given to a student who has exhibited outstanding leadership in all aspects of student life in conjunction with superior achievements in both academics and extracurriculars. Receiving this award was a testament to what Michele would accomplish over the next couple years. This year, Michele attended SUNY Corning full-time to continue earning credits towards her Associates Degree. In June of this year, Michele will receive her Liberal Arts & Science: Math and Science AS degree from SUNY Corning! Michele states that her favorite high school class is any science class, but she has especially enjoyed Biology. Her favorite high school memory was the recent Senior Class Trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. In her free time, Michele enjoys reading, baking, spreading time with friends and family, as well as going on walks and enjoying nature. She plans to attend Elmira College this fall where she will study Pre-Med: Biology. When asked the best advice she could give to younger classes, she said “Try your best and get help when you need it. Most teachers are more than willing to help you if you go to them. Try not to stress over grades, doing your best is all that really matters!” With a laugh, she added, “also, Don’t do Calculus!” On behalf of BCS we’d like to wish Michele the best of luck in her future endeavors! CONGRATULATIONS!
