Regents update
Dear Community Members, We have been asked to post the following information by the New York State of Health. This is not a District service, but rather information on how to apply for health insurance in the event your coverage has been compromised. Any employee of the District with health insurance questions should contact Deb Stephens. Thank you.

Dear Students, Parents and Staff, We received notification earlier today of (2) important developments regarding our current school closure. First, school will remain closed through April 28th. As of now the earliest we would return to school would be on April 29th. This date is subject to change depending on the health and safety conditions being experienced in our area or throughout NYS. We also were informed that all Regents Exams in June 2020 have been cancelled. We expect to receive further guidance on this matter in the coming days. As of right now we do not know what this means in terms of graduation implications or if students will be expected to make these exams up in the future. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these uncertain times. Wishing you all health and safety. John Marshall Superintendent

April 3, 2020 Dear Members of the Community, Please be advised that we have been instructed by Schuyler County to prohibit gatherings of adults or students on our school campus. Some examples given were to prohibit pick-up basketball games, groups of children on playground equipment etc. It was suggested we shut our campus down completely, but we’d like to allow a community member to walk on the track or a parent and child to use the playground as long as we possibly can. We ask that anyone who is on the school campus needs to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay safe and healthy everyone. John Marshall Superintendent

Can you help? As we are continuing to strive to meet the needs of our students, the district is interested in re-assessing the current availability of high-speed internet within the community. If you have students that currently attend the district, we would appreciate your assistance in completing this brief, 3 question survey: https://brdfrd.com/2R3b9BE. All responses are confidential and will only be used by designated district staff.

March 27, 2020 Dear BCS Families, I wanted to share with you that today we received notification from Governor Cuomo that he is extending the statewide school closure date through April 14th. As of now we are anticipating returning to school on April 15th. This date will likely be re-evaluated as it draws near based upon the conditions surrounding COVID-19 across New York State and our region. Thank you for your continued efforts to help limit the spread of this virus and for your support of our District and community. Yours in education, John R. Marshall Superintendent

And an even more special thank you to Steven Lane. His thank you was so special we wanted to wait a few hours and announce it all by itself. Did he accidentally get missed in the earlier message, of course not. 😁

A very special thank you to Beth Gleason, Laura Wakeman, Sara Yeoman, Carol French, Faron Rogers, Heather Schoffner, Amanda Travis, Keith Morse, David Lewis, Robin Parr, Marlene Stopka, Brittany Vogel, Warren Smith, Misty Simms and Heather Monell for helping to meet all of the needs of our District, children and community during this uncertain time. Since the closure of our District these individuals have played a vital role in feeding our children and helping to ensure the safety of others through their diligence in work. So many others have contributed as well, and it is this type of collective effort that will help see us through this challenge we are facing with COVID-19. We are blessed to have such a caring community and staff. Stay strong and safe Braves Nation.
